What is Tai Chi?
Tai Chi is an ancient and extremely effective martial art originating from China.
The Tai Chi principles teach us to react to hardness with softness. Therefore, by neutralizing the force you will develop a calm and attentive mind, a very relaxed and flexible body and full control over your internal energy (also know as Qi).
When you learn Tai Chi and Qi Gong you perform every movement slowly with complete mindfulness and a relaxed state of mind in order to maintain a steady flow of movement, the breath and internal energy. An upright natural position of your spine needs to be maintained to help keep your balance. The breathing must become deep and will transform into a natural breath into the abdominal. When you practice thoroughly, you eliminate old unhealthy patterns caused by modern stresses in life and you will even be able to slow down the process of getting old. Also, you will learn to let go of any problems and conflicts in order to focus on the present.
Tai Chi can also be used as a very effective method of self-defence.
The movements will become very fast and you will learn to use the energy of your opponent to break his balance and uproot him. The Chinese daoists believe one reason for aggression is that people are fighting their own personalities / Ego's, this creates a motivation to learn Tai Chi to make peace with yourself, be healthy and refrain from agression.
